Jowar Upma is a healthy snack you can whip up for breakfast, supper, or just any time of the day.

Ingredients of Jowar Upma

1 Cup Jowar Flour
2 Tsp Cooking Oil
1 Tsp Mustard Seeds (Rai)
1 Tsp Split White Urad Dal
0.25 Tsp Asafoetida (Hing)
5 Piece Curry Leaves
0.5 Cup Onion
0.5 Cup Semolina (Bombay Rava / Sooji)
0.5 Cup Green Peas (Matar)
2 Piece Green Chilli
0.5 Tsp Salt
2 Tbsp Coriander (Dhania) Leaves
1.5 Tbsp Lemon
4 Cup Water

How to make Jowar Upma

Step 1: Heat 1 Cup water in a cooker and boil green peas;
Step 2: Heat the oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds, urad dal and let it crackle;
Step 3: Add asafoetida, curry leaves and sauté it for few seconds and the add chopped onions and sauté on a medium flame for 1 minute;
Step 4: Add the semolina and sauté on a medium flame for another 2 minutes;
Step 5: Add the jowar flour and sauté on a medium flame for 2 more minutes;
Step 6: Add the boiled green peas, green chilli paste(grind green chilli), coriander leaves, salt and mix it well;
Step 7: Add 3 Cup hot water, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes, while stirring continuously;
Step 8: Add the lemon juice and mix well;
Step 9: Serve immediately.
