It is a fluffy steamed rice cakes of a crumbly texture which are steamed to perfection along with coconut.

Ingredients of Rice Puttu

250 Gms Rice
1 Nos Green Cardamom (Elaichi)
0.5 Tsp Salt
3 Tbsp Water
5 Tbsp Grated Coconut

How to make Rice Puttu

Step 1: Wash the rice and soak in water for 2-3 hours;
Step 2: Drain off the excess water and let the rice dry completely;
Step 3: Grind it in a coarse powder along with the cardamom;
Step 4: Dry roast rice powder for 3-4 minutes;
Step 5: Add salt, water and make a bread crumbs like consistency;
Step 6: Now in a steamer add 1 tbsp grated coconut then 2 tbsp prepared rice powder over it and then again 1 tbsp grated coconut and 2 tbsp of rice powder over it and steam it for 10-12 minutes;
Step 7: Follow the above step for the remaining batter;
Step 8: Serve hot.
